What: Update on and discussion of two large-scale development projects underway or proposed in the Ag Reserve and Frederick County. Both raise environmental-impact questions. When: Thursday, June 15, 7:00pm Where: The Gothic Barn at Linden Farm, 20900 Martinsburg Road, Dickerson, MD. Who: Montgomery Countryside Alliance, Sugarloaf Citizens Association and Sugarloaf Alliance. Details: One project is located on 740 acres at the site of the Dickerson power plant. The other involves construction of a 43-mile fiber-optic cable under the Potomac River in two places. Both involve data centers. The fiber optic project will connect data centers in Virginia with those being built in Frederick County. The new owners of the Dickerson power plant property are interested in building a data center on that site as well. The fiber-optic cable already runs through their property.
