The regulatory saga over the future of Sugarloaf Mountain and the farm and rural land surrounding it continues. The latest chapter takes place this Wednesday, May 17. The Frederick Planning Commission will be discussing a zoning proposal that would apply stricter agricultural and conservation rules to 19,700 acres in Southern Frederick County, including the mountain and rural properties along I-270. Our “ask” of you today is to take a few moments to send an email to the Frederick Planning Commission, with cc to the Frederick County Council and County Executive. In your own words, please ask these county officials to support the full “overlay zoning” covering the entire area encompassed by the Sugarloaf Mountain Treasured Landscape Management plan the County Council approved last December.
